Just like any other slot game, dragon-themed slot machines require a player to get a winning combination on the screen. However, the thing that makes these games truly special is that they involve particular symbols which may include Treasure Boxes, Knights, Spellbooks, Female Elves, Potions, Crystal Balls, Archers and others depending on a specific game you play.
Betsoft must have had the Chinese in mind when they designed this slot. Dragon & Phoenix revolves around a story of two Chinese legendary creatures; these are the Asian-style Dragon and the Phoenix Bird.
Dragon Slots Games
Given the quality of graphics that we see on most Betsoft slots, Dragon & Phoenix comes with excellent features (although less) that I will explain in this review.
The slot comes on 5x3 reels plus a total of 20 active lines. Features are many here and they include both regular and expanding wilds. The game also comes with free spins as well as scatters.
Wins go to as high as 8098x total stake ($161,964) for this Medium-Highly volatile slot that has an RTP of 96.01%.

Using the 20 available lines, betting price ranges between $0.20 and $20. This translates to a line-bet of between $0.01 and $1.
Since the maximum bet value is 8098x total stake, the highest that you can expect with this slot is $161,964, which is a good figure for most players.
Dragon & Phoenix Slot Features
As I had mentioned earlier, Dragon & Phoenix has a wild symbol that comes in the symbols of the Emperor and the Empress. Since this symbol is also the substitute, it comes in regular-size but can occasionally expand: especially after landing on the 2nd and 5th reel.
However, you cannot use the wild symbol to replace the scatter. To reach its maximum potential, you will need to work much harder so as to expand it to several columns.
I love the creativity that Betsoft has applied to this slot. For example, the scatter symbol comes in the form of a gold scroll that bears the image of a Money Tree. Actually, this is the symbol that you will need to use to trigger the free spins.
To enjoy the free spins, you will need to land on at least three of them(scatters), which will give you a win potential of up to 500xs stake. There is also the potential to be awarded 15 free spins.
Theme & Design
What we see here is an Asian-themed slot that probably targets players from China. However, from my own personal experience, I must admit that this is a fun game that does not only appeal to the Asian market, but to players across the board. I am not from Asian and I had fun playing this slot.
The low-value symbols come in the usual Royals whose quality is quite low. However, the slot does much better with the quality of the higher value symbols.
High-value symbols include 88 logos, Dragons, Phoenix birds, pearls, statues, gold ingots, and temples.
Conclusion
I have no major complaints about Dragon and Phoenix. It is a decent looking slot with potentially high payout although you may need to tackle it with caution given its high volatility.
However, the slot has the potential to earn you some quick cash but it might not impress you with its small number of features.

It would be fair to say that if you wanted to play an Oriental themed slot, you are somewhat spoilt for choice, as virtually every online casino has at least one, but usually many more of these games. Fortunately, this Genesis slot takes a slightly different approach to the genre, focusing on the battle between the phoenix and the dragon, both mythical creatures which are delightfully represented on the reels. The feature of the slot is particularly original, where you’ll choose one of the two creatures – if that creature then wins the battle, your round will be all the better.
This slot is highly appealing visually. The backdrop to the reels shows a painted rocky, mountainous scene, where the different shades of grey are interspersed with patches of white to represent the clouds. The reels sit above the backdrop, with a slightly transparent white grey backing, so the background picture remains in view. The symbols on the reels all appear in pastel colours; each one looking like much care has been taken in making them look perfect for the theme. The two standout symbols are the phoenix and the dragon, the phoenix staring to the right in a mix of red, black and gold colours, while the dragon stares to the left with distinctive green skin and golden flowing hair. The accompanying soundtrack is at a much higher tempo than you might expect at an Oriental themed game, although this fits entirely with the battle aspect of this original slot.
The base game is what you might expect to find at the majority of online slots, with 5 reels each 3 symbols high. This particular game has 25 win lines, although you can easily change this number to any between 1 and 25 by simply using the slider found on either side of the reels. As well as choosing the number of win lines, you’ll also decide on the coin value and the coin number to give you a total stake for each spin.To gain a win you’ll need to land at least 3 consecutive symbols on a win line from left to right (although strangely you’ll also win when landing just 2 in a row of the 9 symbol). It’s certainly the phoenix and the dragon symbols you’ll want to see appearing most on the reels. Should you land either of these 5 times in a row, you’ll gain a 750 coin win – however, these symbols also double up by activating the feature. There are also two symbols with Far Eastern lettering inscribed into the middle of flame patterned backdrops, each one representing one of the creatures. These are worth 500 coins when appearing 5 times in a row. The final symbols are the playing card symbols from 9 to Ace.
Usually a scatter symbol will activate the feature, but here you’ll find one that simply pays a prize. This is the title symbol of the slot, and should it appear twice or more, you’ll win, with a maximum win of 50x your total stake when landing 5 anywhere on the reels. This is joined by the wild symbol, which will substitute for any other on the reels apart from the scatter – any wins using the wild being doubled!
You’ll activate the feature when the dragon or the phoenix lands on reel one and the opposite creature than lands on reel five. A Yin and Yang style symbol will appear on the reels and you’ll pick one of the creatures coiled inside. They will now go to war – the phoenix shooting flames while the dragon fires water back. If your chosen creature wins, the feature round will be improved.Phoenix Feature – This is a free spins round where you’ll have an initial 4 spins, but another 4 will be added if the Phoenix wins the battle beforehand. This round sees the phoenix turn entire reels wild at random, up to three at a time – these reels being 2, 3 and 4.
Dragon Feature – You’ll be taken to a screen featuring a number of clouds. You’ll pick them one at a time and accumulate prizes, the round ending when you click ‘collect’. Should the dragon win the initial battle, the prize values available will be doubled.
